dog breeds. In terms of Height, this one comes 2nd to Great Dane. Originally, sale of the national dog to outsiders was prohibited.

As research Suggest it's one of the oldest breeds (around 4000 yrs),
in the Bulkh Region of Afghanistan Dog similar to today's afghan
hound existed. These dogs also existed in 600 BC, Greece, Egypt.
The Afghan Hound is a member of the Greyhound family. Their ancestors moving to Afghanistan where they worked protecting sheep and cattle.
Afghanistan once had cold and harsh and these dogs helped afghans to
move from one place to another.
This dog is very agile and athletic. They were basically used for
hunting purposes. In 1886 dog lovers took this breed to Britain but
it was introduced to America in only 1926.
Afghan hound can easily survive in hard conditions like extreme
cold.
