How to Breed Oscar Fish

Oscar fishes are easier to breed. originally from Amazon from chichidae family.

They need a large tank due to their large size. It'd be better if you have clean and clear water with a deep sand bottom.
If you have plants in your aquarium Oscars might dig them up as they like digging and playing  with plants. these fishes are very long lived so they are quite popular too.

For breeding all you need is get a pair and just leave them alone..

Some important things to remember about Having an Oscar fish.

Temperature should be stable around 80-95°F range.

They should be placed with fishes who are almost their size as they'll eat small fishes.

They'll eat almost anything out from your kitchen. So there are not big problem and concerns about having them.

If you are trying to breed an Oscar fish. It's better to have number of young specimens and let  them grow together. As with adult Oscar fish it's becomes hard task to find a mate for them.
A mating behavior can be identified from their mating play ie Lip locking, tail slapping.

During their spawning process female fish will lay around 1000-2000 eggs and Male will fertilize them. Females fishes doesn't lay eggs at once..
After the laying both fishes will keep guard of their eggs.. keeping them clean and safe guard from predators.

If a constant tank temperature is maintained, the eggs should hatch in about 36 hours.
Now parents fishes constantly attend to their young at this time. Feeding them is also easier than other breeds as baby Oscar is relatively large size.

These babies will grow around 2 inches in 12 weeks.. after which you can sell them too.
