The longevity of your ferret depends largely on the care you provide him.
So it's important for us to take care of their special
requirements.
As we come to know about the kind
of food we should give our ferrets. Here are some more
information about the choices to food
you should provide.
They are meat eaters. Meat is only part of a natural diet: predators eat not only the muscle meat of their prey, they also eat the liver, kidneys, and intestinal tract, and crunch up bones as well.
A diet limited to meat alone would cause harmful and eventually fatal nutritional imbalances.
They do well on dry kitten or ferret chow providing 30-40% crude protein and 15-20% fat.
Pelleted diets
The best way to feed ferrets is to always leave dry, pelleted food with them.
Moist food sours after few hours.
Water
Ferrets on dry diets must have a constant supply of water. In warm
weather they drink much more. Ferrets that have no water for 24
hours will stop eating.
Feeding kits
Three-week-old kits can be fed cows' milk and whipping cream, mixed half and half, to supplement (but not replace) their mother's milk if she can't quite manage to keep up with the demands of a large litter.
Feeding a sick Ferret
A Sick ferrets need special attention. They often have a reduced appetite when they need good food to heal.
The way to feed them is by giving them small amount of food.
